Ha’iku Community Association 2023 Annual Meeting Focuses on What’s New In Ha’iku?


Event date: Wednesday March 15 from 6:30-8:30 pm

At Haiku Community Center, Hana Hwy in Haiku

Presentations include: Maui Fire Chief Brad Ventura on new Ha’iku Fire Station
progress; Pa’ia-Ha’iku Council member Nohe U’u-Hodgins-with updates on important
Ha’iku community projects; Mayor Bissen’s representative Ike Duru; Joyclynn Costa
giving updates on the recent oil spill at Haleakala US Air Force facility and Malama
Hamakua Maui volunteers will give a brief update on the Hamakua Open Space
activities and slides showing the location of Kamehameha Schools-Bishop Estate
purchase of over 1.000 acres of coastal lands in the Haiku-Huelo region. HCA Annual
Board elections will also be held. Community members can join the association at the
meeting and vote in the board elections.

Free Hazardous Waste Recycling

A free hazardous waste recycling day will happen on March 27th. The drive-thru event will be held in Central Maui and is by appointment only.

Items accepted include aerosols, antifreeze, car batteries, household batteries, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, oil-based paint, pesticides, solvents and thermometers. Residents should ask about other hazardous items when they call to make an appointment.

To make an appointment, call Cameron Chemical Corp. at (808) 695-2999 by March 18 and have a list of hazardous materials ready.
